X2 Customize transactional emails (X2 EN)

Transactional emails

Magento handles automated communication with your customers via transactional emails. These are created under Marketing > Email Templates and assigned to the individual touchpoints in the configuration menu under Stores > Settings > Configuration > Sales > Sales Emails. These include, for example, order confirmations, invoices, or shipping notifications. Every standard Magento system already comes with a basic set of transactional emails in the set language.

To create a template, click New Template in the upper right corner and assign a unique name. In the next step, load a standard template, here New Invoice, and click Load Template.

The previously empty fields will be filled with the contents of the template.

Template Information

Assuming knowledge of HTML and CSS, you can make adjustments to the design beyond the plain text. If you want to change the subject or the template content, you can use the Add Variables button to load predefined content in the correct syntax.

Once you have finished editing, you can save the template (top right button).

In the next step, the template is now placed in the correct location in the system. To do this, go to Stores > Settings > Configuration and click Sales Emails in the menu on the left under Sales.

In the Invoice tab (template assignments work the same in the other areas), now assign your newly created template from the dropdown menu to the Invoice Email Template.

If you are running a multilingual store, create the transactional emails in all languages and assign them to your individual stores in the Sales Emails section by selecting each one from the Storeview (top left).
